Fire in PA Means Possible Impact on Aviation Supply Chain

A major fire in Pennsylvania has been dominating the local news cycle, but the aviation world needs to pay attention because this fire could impact an already shaky aerospace supply chain.

The fire broke out at the SPS Technologies fastener manufacturing plant. It was significant enough to warrant a local disaster declaration.

The actual likely affect on the community is not yet known, but if your company was involved in distributing or using fasteners produced by SPS Technologies then you will want to investigate to assess the impact this could have on your own supply chain, and you may need to assess possible alternative sources.

The township of Abington has established a page for updates on the situation, although it is primarily focused on the public health issues posed by the fire and its aftermath. SPS Technologies established a community hotline for local questions, comments or concerns: 215-572-3326 or contactSPS@ppcairframe.com. If wish to offer support or aid then this might be the best way to reach SPS.
