In a flurry of last-minute activity, the Senate approved a slew of Presidental nominations on Tuesday, January 1. One of those nominations was the appointment of Michael Huerta as FAA Administrator. Senate confirmation is the necessary final step in a Presidential appointment.
The Huerta appointment is for a term of five years.
Huerta has served as Acting Administrator of the FAA since December 5, 2011, after Randy Babbitt stepped down. Before that, he had been confirmed by the U.S. Senate as the FAA’s Deputy Administrator on June 23, 2010.
